Wildlife

We saw a couple of these guys over the weekend. Actually I saw them, Clare stepped over them thinking they were sticks. They are only 12 inches long and weren't in any hurry to get out of the way. I didn't see any Brumbies on the section Kiandra to Thredbo but have seen a number today. The area has heavy regrowth after the 2003 fires so they can hide easily. Their behaviour is a lot more relaxed than the ones on the plains. Often they don't see me till I am 50m away and then they will usually stand their ground for a few more seconds. Today I had a small fox follow me for 300m - he would stop dead still when I turned to look at him and pretend it was entirely normal to be on a fire trail 50m behind me. I wonder how long he had been there?
